Name and function of reinforcement in concrete members:

Reinforcement is usually processed into various shapes according to its different roles in members. Common reinforcement in members can be divided into main reinforcement (longitudinal stressed reinforcement), bending reinforcement (inclined reinforcement), stirrup, erection reinforcement, waist reinforcement, tie bar and distribution reinforcement, as shown in the figure. The functions of various reinforcement in members are as follows.

1. Main reinforcement. Also known as longitudinal stressed reinforcement, it can be divided into tension and compression. The tensile reinforcement is arranged in the tensile area of the bending member and the tensile member to bear the tensile force; The compression reinforcement is arranged in the compression area and compression member of the bending member to bear the pressure together with the concrete.

2. Bend the reinforcement. It is a variation of tensile reinforcement. In a simply supported beam, in order to resist the oblique tension caused by bending and shearing near the support, both ends of the tensile reinforcement are bent to bear this oblique tension. When the length of the main reinforcement is not enough to bend, the hanging reinforcement can also be used.

3. Erection bar. The erection reinforcement can fix the stirrup and connect it with the main reinforcement to form a reinforcement skeleton, so as to ensure the design position of the stressed reinforcement and prevent it from moving during concrete pouring.

4. Stirrups. The main function of stirrup is to fix the position of stressed reinforcement in the member and make the reinforcement form a solid skeleton. At the same time, stirrup can also bear part of tensile force and shear force.

5. Waist and tie. The role of waist reinforcement is to prevent vertical cracks caused by concrete shrinkage and temperature deformation when the beam is too high, and also to strengthen the stiffness of the reinforcement skeleton.

6. Distribution bar. Distributed reinforcement refers to the structural reinforcement arranged perpendicular to the main reinforcement in the slab. Its function is to transfer the load on the slab surface to the stressed reinforcement more evenly. At the same time, the position of the main reinforcement can be fixed by binding or spot welding during construction, and it can also resist temperature stress and concrete shrinkage stress.
